Ourika valley

Pick up from your accommodation at 09h00 am, and head towards the Atlas Mountains, see
some of its hills rise slowly…Ourika
is a beautiful valley where silence is only disturbed by bird songs and
streams. The area is known for the quality of its pottery. We
suggest either a hike or mule-trekking to the water falls of Setti Fatma with a
meal on the way. This
excursion is best done on Berber Souk day Monday. Take a walk through the scattered, indigenous Berber villages. Visit
the Tomb of Tzaddik Rabbi Shlomo ben Hans. This tomb is the object of a
pilgrimage (hilulah) once a year attended by Jews of Moroccan descent from all
over the world. This is a fascinating aspect of Jewish life in Morocco, unique
to North African Jewry. Hundreds of hilulot happen each year (this is one of
the largest) attracting Jews of Moroccan descent from all over the world.
Continue to the Ourika Valley and
visit the Berber Eco-museum. The museum offers visitors the collections of
Berber artifacts, an exhibition of antique photos of the High Atlas, documentaries
and magnificent views over the valley of Ourika. Continue to Kasbah Bab
Ourika, overlooking the Ourika Valley, for a lunch.
